Hamburg: OMA, Office for Metropolitan Architecture unveils its final project for the “Science Centre and Aquarium”, to be built in the new district of Hamburg known as “Hafen City”.
The following designers contributed to the project: Rem Koolhaas, Ellen van Loon and Marc Paulin.

The complex will host, with an overall surface area of 23 thousand square metres, a Science Centre, an aquarium (8500 square metres under water), a theatre, offices, laboratories as well as spaces for businesses.
The structure hinges on a circular design which takes shape from the combination of ten interlocking modular blocks. Visitors will start their tour from the so-called “Base Station” inside the structure at the top of the building; they will then pass through galleries and exhibition areas to come down along the modular blocks which contain the aquarium.
